About the event
On Saturday, June 22nd (between the Summer Solstice and San Juan's Day - June 24 - the traditionally-celebrated beginning of monsoon season), we will be holding a very special song circle on Mt. Lemmon to call in the rains and celebrate the Summer Solstice.
"The annual tradition of celebrating the onset of monsoon season in the Southwest begins with San Juan’s Day or Dia de San Juan on June 24. San Juan’s Day is the feast day for St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water. The monsoons are coming and soon the life giving water from the sky will bless our parched ground." - Native Seeds Search
We will be gathering in the big meadow at Bear Wallow. You should be able to park along the side of E Upper Bear Wallow Rd (1st right after Box Camp Trailhead.) We will have some signs directing you to our location in the meadow.
UPDATE: There is rain in the forecast! 🌨️🙌🏻
We will bring two large canopies to sing under, just in case the heavens decide to grace us with their waters. If it does rain, the temperature is likely to drop. We will have blankets, but please consider what you might want to bring to stay comfortable. Our insect kin may also be quite abundant, so please bring what you might need to enforce the distance from which you can still love them. 🪰🦟🐞 Also: Bring altar items if you feel called! We will have a community altar, all are welcome to bring items to add.
