Welcome to the Circle
Singing transforms the singer. Singing together transforms the collective.
We come together to sing simple yet beautiful songs
in the a capella aural tradition - line by line, call and repeat.
No need to read music. All musical levels are welcome!
We focus on unison, rounds, and layered songs
dedicated to the well-being of all, including you!
Our intention is that communion and unity
be found in this experience of community singing.
This is a liberatory, celebratory circle.
We are dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression,
both within ourselves and in our spaces.

Our Story
Tucson Song Circle was founded in 2018 by Valerie Osborne as a monthly gathering. Juliana Murphy began co-tending the Circle in 2021, and in 2022, Monsoon Seed Choir was born, bringing weekly singing to our circle, and the gift of song to community events like Cyclovia and the All Souls Procession.
Valerie stepped back from songleading in December 2025, and in August 2026, Monsoon Seed Choir and the Second Saturday Song Circle came to a close. We are in the process of adding new offerings, and we have expanded our circle to welcome in new Circle Tenders!

Juliana (they/she) comes to our circle with a lifelong love of singing and a library of original and collected songs that connect us to ourselves, nature, and the cycles and rhythms of being a human on this planet. She loves a groove, and she brings a deep desire to sing a more beautiful, inclusive, loving, sustainable, and delightful world into being. Maureen Hickey
Circle Tender
Maureen (she, they) joined the Monsoon Seed Choir song circle in the summer of 2025, and rediscovered what she knew as a child: singing brings them joy, connection and spiritual awakening. Community Time sparked a creative fire in her soul and she began catching songs for the first time that summer as well. The desire to share those songs led to song leading, which led them to join Singing Resistance Tucson as a founding member and accept a leadership role there in March of 2026. Leadership is a new venture for Maureen, and she is amazed at the energy and aliveness she has found as a fledgling song leader. This uplifting community of singers has empowered them to unburden old fears and fly on the wings of song.
JoJo Carichner
Circle Tender
Jojo (she/her) came to Monsoon Seed in 2022 and immediately felt the power of these songs to uplift, connect, create community, which she was strongly craving. Weekly singing has been the her rock for 4 years now. She is delighted to bring her years of singing, theatre, yoga, sign language and group facilitation to her song leading. She began leading songs weekly in February 2026 with Singing Resistance Tucson and is happy to explore more song opportunities to share songs in this beautifully established and supportive community.
